Let's Play Camping!

Kids love to play camping!  This is a fun activity for SLPs to incorporate into therapy for 2-4 weeks and for parents to play at home with their children!

Books to ADD to your Camping Play!

Use these books to teach and talk about camping and what we do when we go camping!

Materials Needed

  • Play tent or make tents with blankets

  • Pillows and sleeping bags or blankets

  • Broom and dustpan

  • Toy fishing sets or make some!

  • Toy binoculars, magnifying glass or make some out of empty toilet paper holders!  

  • Bucket 

  • Toy bugs or stuffed animals to hide around the house to find (put in your bucket) or go OUTSIDE what REAL items can you find?

  • Sticks, bin and construction paper to make a fire.

  • Marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers: use real or cotton balls, cardboard and brown construction paper for chocolate.

Activities

  • Set up Tent - use blankets or a play tent

  • Use a broom to sweep it out!

  • Put pillows, sleeping bags or blankets in the tent

  • Pretend to go to sleep!

  • Wake up and go for a HIKE - hide animals and bugs around and collect them!

  • Go fishing - put the fish in the bucket

  • Hike back to the campsite or tent

  • Collect Sticks - (set some out if needed)

  • Make a fire (use sticks, and construction paper)

  • Cook the fish and make s'mores

  • Go to bed again!
